State of The Union

Exhibition Dates: February 1-22, 2019
Location: Pool Art Center Gallery, Drury University, Springfield, MO

Every year, the President of the United States delivers the administration’s view of the nation and plans for legislation to Congress in the State of the Union Address. In the same way, this timely exhibition asked artists to present their views of the nation through art. Visitors to the gallery will witness work from a variety of artists addressing the current political atmosphere, the environment, equality, and more.

This exhibition was juried by Jonathan Thomas, a Drury alumnus and manager of National and International Advancement at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

Narcissus Narcosis

Solo Exhibition featuring selections from Fear Culture, USA
Exhibition Dates: September 17th – October 24th, 2018
Location: Southern Light Gallery, Amarillo College, Amarillo, Texas
“…Narcissus narcosis, a syndrome whereby man remains as unaware of the psychic and social effects of his new technology as a fish of the water it swims in. As a result, precisely at the point where a new media-induced environment becomes all pervasive and transmogrifies our sensory balance, it also becomes invisible.”

Art and Fear

Exhibition Dates: June 1 – July 28, 2018
Reception: June 1, from 5 – 9 p.m.
Location: The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri, Cape Girardeau, Missouri
The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri is hosting an opening reception for Art and Fear, a national juried exhibition in downtown Cape Girardeau, Missouri on June 1, from 5 – 9 p.m.
The open call for this exhibition, Art and Fear, encouraged artists to explore their own personal feelings about fear, anxiety, and phobias. When transformed into art, “fear” can be something personal and thought-provoking, or it can be laughable and fun! The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri encouraged the exploration and interpretation of this theme in a way that was unique to each individual!
